CERN Investigators Publish Paper About Gene Expression in Infratentorial Ependymoma

— Categories: CERN Research Articles     Posted on May 12, 2012

In an exciting scientific breakthrough, a team of CERN Foundation researchers, led by Kenneth Aldape, M.D. at MD Anderson Cancer Center, have identified a prognostic gene expression signature in infratentorial ependymoma. These findings have been published in a recent issue of the journal Acta Neuropathologica.

This paper focuses on a specific location of the ependymoma (infratentorial, not cerebral or spinal cord tumors) and the prognostic significance of gene expression subgroups for tumors in this specific anatomic location. By grouping the tumors in subgroups, the results indicate a link between clinical outcome and biologically identified subsets of infrantentorial ependymoma.
